POST FAIR REPORT

In sharp contrast to the snow that enveloped Salisbury last year and all but cancelled the Wilton House Antiques Fair, this year the three day event enjoyed lovedly spring weather and saw loads of visitors pass through the doors in search of a good day out.

On offer was a wonderful choice from across the art, antiques and decorative arts spectrum including jewellery, furniture, carpets, textiles, clocks, ceramics, silver, fine art and sculpture. And with prices ranging from £50 – £50,000, there was lots of temptation for both the established collector and the first-time buyer alike.

The newly refurbished Cafe, managed by the catering company Ministry of Food Hampshire, attracted a crowd of hungry visitors drawn by the sight of pretty home-made cakes and salads and the tempting smells of hot soup and fresh coffee.

This year’s award for the best dressed stand was awarded by Lord Pembroke to Drove House Antiques, specialists in Chinese porcelain from the 17th and 18th centuries, Chinese export wares and textiles as well as a good variety of Parian figures and busts.
