Part of the Earl of Pembroke’s Estate, Bulbridge House is Grade II Listed with many important architectural features and historical connections (Edith Olivier, Cecil Beaton, Lady Juliet Duff, Rex Whistler). This three-storey house was first built on the site in 1700, and was subsequently remodeled and reduced in size by James Wyatt in 1794. The house has been sympathetically altered and extended since then. In consultation with Lord and Lady Pembroke, the house was extensively renovated during 2018/2019 by R Moulding & Co. The house offers beautifully proportioned accommodation with the classical features typical of a property of this era, with large sash windows, beautiful high ceilings with ornate cornicing, feature fireplaces, a Georgian style reception hall leading to the drawing and dining rooms and also into the garden. Doors lead from the drawing room to the family room and onto the patio and garden. There is a large kitchen/breakfast room with an electric aga with doors leading to the terrace. Also on the ground floor is a separate utility room, a fully fitted butler’s pantry, cloakroom and lobby which provides access to the parking area and garaging on the northern side of the house.

On the first floor there is a large principal bedroom suite overlooking the gardens that benefits from an adjoining dressing room and ensuite bathrooms along with four further bedrooms and three bathrooms. Upstairs there are two attic bedrooms, one ensuite.

The house is linked by the ground floor lobby and first floor walk way to a three bedroom annexe with a private entrance which could be used as separate accommodation.

The property is set within approximately 11 acres, with the River Nadder on the western boundary. The kitchen/dining terrace leads to a classical loggia, designed by Rex Whistler and a sunken garden, which is ideal for entertaining. The gravel forecourt is screened from the road by a tall beech hedge and leads to a large garage with parking area and a store. There is also an orchard and former kitchen gardens enclosed by yew hedges.

Bulbridge House is situated on South Street in the thriving market town of Wilton about 3 miles to the west of the historic Cathedral City of Salisbury. Wilton has a comprehensive range of shops and facilities including a local market, baker, shop, coffee houses, pubs and restaurants, doctor’s surgery and a dentist. The larger towns of Salisbury and Bath offer a wider range of shopping, cinema, theatre and arts. Communications in the area are excellent with the A303 about 7 miles to the north providing a link to the M3, M25 and London or the West Country. Salisbury Station offers a mainline service to London Waterloo taking from 1 hour 28 minutes. There are a number of renowned schools within reach, including Godolphin, Chafyn Grove and the highly regarded boys’ and girls’ Grammar schools in Salisbury. Port Regis, Sandroyd, Hazelgrove, Clayesmore, Canford, Sherborne and Bryanston are also nearby. Racing at Salisbury, Wincanton and Newbury are easily accessible and there are Golf courses High Post, Rushmore and South West Wilts.

The property is unfurnished and has 11 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, 4 reception rooms and is available from April 2024. The rent will be £8,500 per calendar month, payable monthly in advance and a deposit of £11,796.23 will be required. A holding deposit of £1961.53 will be required.

The property will be let on a minimum term of 12 months.
